• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I couldn't stand to see that jackass's post about the truth about halloween as the last post on the Sako board, so I posted this message.

I'm working with a machinist to modify a pair of Warne mounts for the AV long action. These mounts will absolutely, positively be the most rock solid mounts with the least amount of parts EVER for the standard Sako dovetail. I will upload pics; the mounts hopefully will be done in a few weeks.

Great! Please do post details and pictures when you can. I am very interested in getting my gunsmith to duplicate this.

I really like my Sako's, but many mounts for them have WAY too many parts or simply sit much higher than needed.

I agree!
What a piece of junk. First you mount this square box on the gun then put the rings on the box. The whole set-up weighs twice as much as it should. I'd like to see the engineer that designed this mess carry it up the side of a mountain at 10,000 feet and watch him sucking for air as he wished he had thought this out before he went hunting with it. I like the old one piece rings that screwed directly to the receiver. The only problem with them is the height is never right, either too high or not enough clearence.

Great guns but someone at the factory needs to go hunting once and awhile and see how it works in the field and not just off the bench.

Just wandering how the mounts were coming along. I have several different types of bases, Redfield (the most), Burris, Beuhler, Weaver (which are in a sack), and Sako. All have some good points, and some bad. I prefer the Redfields, lightweight, compact, no set screw and unlimited ring selection.

Notice Leupold was not listed. A company with great products for everything except Sakos. Someone should write them a letter, or sell them the patent for a new mount like you are describing.

After driving thousands of miles to find a H&R; Ultra Wildcat in 17 Rem. at a reasonable price, I found one at a local gunshow last weekend. The condition was great, and the price was perfect. I found one at Tulsa in the fall for $1200, but it was a piece together gun. Pre Garcia magazine release, round top receiver, and a very well done refinished stock. The one I bought last weekend was original, and I am damn glad to get it.
