• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi guys! I have had a Marlin 322 with the Sako Rihiimaki action. That gun puts holes in holes fairly easily, and I wanted to have the real deal: an L46. Finally found a great looking gun on Gun Broker. I bid $800 fully expecting to lose it. No one bid but me. So I have this wonderful gun. The scope is a Leopold 3X9, and I suppose that is worth a bit too, so I think I got this gun for a song. Great condition. Hardly any noticble marks, the bluing and bore are great. Serial number from this site's chart suggests it's from 1964. So what do you think?

Sako changed over to the L-461 in 1961. My Marlin Varmint King #35469 was only offered in 1958, so it must have been made in 1957. You can judge by whether or not your serial number precedes mine.
I once owned a 322 that was flat mint. My buddy bought it from me. He couldn't get much accuracy out of it until he checked the twist and found his was 1-12". 60 and 63 gr bullets shot best in it.

Yes, it is a L461, my bad. Don't know why the picture didn't load. It was there during editing. Let's try again.

Looks like a good deal to me. L461 Vixens in .222 are classic ! The scope looks like it is mated well to the rifle with the proper Redfield style mounts. You have the sight hood and original sling loops. You did well ! Please let us know how it shoots !

I love the .222 round. Easy for my son and my girlfriend to shoot, and that was a major consideration. I'll let you know how it shoots this weekend--if it ever stops raining!

It would have been impossible for you to do any better!

Check your barrel to see if it has the 12 (?) groove rifling which was common on Sako .222's of that era. My identical-looking Sako .222 has this rifling and it produces knife-edge accuracy for me. It is not the same "Microgroove" rifling as in your Marlin 322, but it has similarities.
