Hi, my name is Chris, just joined after acquiring an L61R earlier this year. It is a bit unusual as it has a custom barrel in 308 Norma. Currently I am working on replacing a bold step spring. Any disassembly tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, and I am happy to be joining the forum.

I'm not familiar with that term. Exactly which part are you attempting to replace, and why? If we better understand then possibly someone here can provide some information.

Sorry, was a typo, should the 'Bolt stop spring' (see photo). The difficulty I was having was removing the bolt stop. I removed the two screws, snd the darned thing wouldn't budge...Reason? A) presicion fit and B) 50 years of gummed up lubricants had it glued into place. Solution? Solvent, and sliding a razor blade prying upward. Next time, I think I will fabricate a spring from a fishing duolock...Happy ending, bolt stop and ejector are fully functional again![IMG]

You’re a better man than I am Gungha Din! I occasionally consider gunsmithing courses, but it’s hard to find time.

Thanks! I also adjusted trigger to 2.5 lbs while I had it apart. Range day followed, working up loads; third recipe was solid.... I love this rifle!

Of course! I should have recognized an autocorrect error or whatever. Glad you got your bolt stop reassembled and working.
