Hello all. I am in possession of a VL63 Finnwolf .308. I am hoping to learn more about it.
Chuck up some details pictures mate. I haven't done it yet, but you can pay have all the original factory details, for some sako, from the Sako factory.
Chuck some pictures and details up. You can access details from the factory in the 'factory records service'section of this forum. For a small fee, and select range of serial numbers, the records can tell you a lot about your rifle. If you publish the details it also helps others build their dunderstanding of 'how it all worked' at factory. The records are unusual with modern perspective on and business management. Different. I have not done it yet but looking forward to seeing the factory configuration of my 308.
I just sent in a request for a service #2.
Details about the acquisition can be found in the VL63 forum
Please post the results of your records search. Beautiful rifle!
I put the results in the "share you records findings thread"
Sako Model VL63 serial number 2678 was inspected 3 January 1969. It was booked for shipping to Firma Albrect Kind (Germany) 29 January 1969 in shipping lot 38219 as one of six similar caliber .308 Sako VL63 rifles.
Fantastic, where are you currently located?
I’m in the US.....so the question is.....how did it get from Germany to here? Best guess is that the fellow who couldn’t pay his repair bill at my dads shop was ex US army, returned from Germany. Dad was a vet, so that would explain his being willing to take the trade vs. cash. In hindsight......I hope it was a pretty extensive repair.
Fantastic, sometimes not knowing gives us something nice to mull on, particularly something fine like this has personal sentimental memories attached. Very cool
