• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I've been lurking for awhile and really enjoy the forum. I was shooting my AV 7mm last weekend and the trigger shoe snapped in half. I know the entire assembly is available but was hoping to get by with just the blade. Being a little superstitious with hunting rigs I'd like to keep as much of the original firearm intact. Any sources or just flyers is appreciated. Angus

angus,if I understand the trigger snapped in half? Never heard of that but strange things can and do happen.Think finding a trigger to install in your trigger assembly will be a chore. One of the club members may chine in soon but I believe a replacement trigger will be your solution.I could be wrong. Best of luck on your repair. Jim

Thanx Jim. It was a clean break just above where my finger typically would be. Its a late eighties rifle that has seen alot of action- never heard or seen anything like it. Other than a new Sako assembly would there be any aftermarket triggers recomended. Angus

angus, unless someone chimes in with an offer to help your best bet would be to identify the trigger assemblly which I believe is a Sako #4 trigger.Brownells sells Timney triggers for Sako rifles and their Tech department should be able to help you with the identification.Occasionally triggers come up for sale on the gun auction sites and here on the forum so some searching may be in order.Hope this helps,If you have a local gunsmith it wouldn't hurt to ask his opinion as well.Hope all goes well with your project. Jim

angus, one other thing ,go to your profile (edit profile)top of forum page and put your general location in the signature block and save.I know, does not seem like the correct place to put it but thats where it goes. Jim

If you still have the piece that broke off, I'd try welding it back together. A good welder could do it. After filing & polishing the welded area you would never know it happened.

I agree with Paul, take the trigger apart, a good Tig weld, polish it up and you are back

in business. If you should find a used trigger later its always an option. Good Luck

angus,
You mention in your first post above that the "trigger shoe" snapped in half? Do you mean by just getting by with the "blade" that the trigger is still intact? Why not just get another trigger shoe?
I'm with gunner620 on this as it seems rather confusing. Want to post a picture for those like me with the frontal lobe starting to go?

Thank-you for the replies. I would post pic but left camera at the cabin. Sorry for any confusion. The assembly is 100%. The trigger shoe (blade) cleanly snapped in half just above where my index finger contacts the trigger. Everywhere I have looked (brownell, midwest, etc) only sells the entire assembly($315). If you have any thoughts on where I can get a new Shoe (or blade) I would love to hear them. Otherwise its down to dropping a Timney or TIG welding Thank-you

Angus,

I have a an extra Sako trigger assembley that I believe will work, for less than what a Timney will cost. If you are interested send me a PM and we can discuss.

John
