Today I upgraded my practice rifle to a Sako Carbon Wolf in 6.5 mm Creedmoor. I emptied the gun cabinet with the exception of my Sako TRG-22 match rifle (also a Creedmoor) to make this happen.
My thought process was that to master the wind (is that even possible) and reloading I need to practice at a minimum of 300 yards with the cartridge that I shoot in matches. My wife is temporarily content that I only have two rifles in total (scout's honor). I am itching to get to the range to begin break in and load development.
My first impression is that this rifle is very light coming in at 7.5 lbs. I picked up an ERA-TAC picatinny rail that is a perfect fit to the Sako receiver details. Then I can just flip flop my riflescope. This would make a great hunting rifle, but to date I have only shot long range.
I'll provide an update once I've settled out on the rifle's average three shot cold bore group. Life is good.
See you at the range.
