• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi Guys... Thanks for letting me join. I just stumbled across the site, so being a Sako fan I thought this is for me. So let me introduce myself, my name is Darren and I live in Canada.

I bought my first Sako in 1978 or 1979 and I still have it. If I remember correctly it was about $550 for a NIB .223 HB.

I have about 22 Sakos, if you count 3 Sako/Brownings. Most of them are the short actions (461, vixen, A1) but I have a few of the mediums as well.

I don't think I have anything too rare except for maybe a 308 HB ... It has a removable magazine, adjustable wooden stock and plastic ball on the bolt knob. I am not really sure what model it is. I can post some pics if anybody wants to see it, but I will have to wait when I go home. (I work 28 days away from home and then I get 28 days off so I don't get home until the end of August)

I started working on building my gun room so I can post a few pics of the rack, once I figure out how to post pics.

That's all for now...

Darren!
Welcome to SCC!
WOW! ThatxB4s some collection youxB4ve got there!! Please feel free to show us all your treasures!
And do post pics of your "Man Cave"!!!:wink2:
Best way of posting pics is to use a site like Photobucket or similar. Then link from there to our site. And there are some good tips in the How To in the Photo Section as well!

Regarding your work schedule! I work exactly the same schedule! Are you offshore as I am?
Once again a warm welcome!!!

darren,
Very impressive. Welcome to the forum. Is that a Biathlon I see hiding in the middle there? Maybe not. Looks huge on second take. You don't actually let your wife dust those while you are gone:bigsmile3:.
The members on this forum can start our own army! Everyone has such great Sako's.

Thanks S-A.

I think you are referring to the 308 ... It has the adjustable wooden stock and removable magazine. I bought that in the mid '90s and I have only seen 1 other one like it and I am not really sure what it is. I will taks a few pics when I get home and then maybe someone can help me figure out what it is. :o

Hey my wife doesn't even know where the key is hidden... ;)

CU...

darrren,
You are definitely going to fit in here well! I was thinking that maybe your .308 may have been built for competitive shooting. We'll have to see what secrets it holds when you get home
BTW, from the sounds of what you have, you may need a retina scanner on the vault door:wink2:.

darren!
If I would venture a guess your 308 is called Target and was made for only a few years. I will look into my catalogs when I get home.
And thanks for sharing!!:smile1:
Jim

Sweet collection :shocked3: and also nice M1911's on the link !

darren,
Jim is correct. I just got a catalog from Accuflite and that model is pictured and indeed is called "Target" It was also a .308. I think stonecreek mentioned this as well in a different thread or when the Recent Posts were going crazy.
Anyway, I have the catalog to prove it.

BTW, it is apparently still available. There was a price on it and if you wanted one it was for sale.

Fssalaska-

Thanks .. I didn't expect anyone to see the 1911s... They are my other weakness. I have a 3 digit commercial 1911 in there. J

Thanks ... I will have to search that when I am home... I have problems with the web filter here at work.
