• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Should be a nice, flat shooter.

napawino,
Welcome to the forum. That's a great looking rifle. I shoot a 7mm mag and love it. BTW, you live there or just have fond memories of the area? I'm from a little South of you if so.
Have fun with your rifle. Great scope, too.

I go at least once a year. Love that area. Always a very enjoyable trip.
I'm in the Seattle area, and I usually hunt Montana, where I lived for many years. This should be a real nice Elk rifle for the clear cuts that I like to hunt.

napawino,
So, you prefer that than Sanoma? I grew up in that area and been to both many times. Had the occasion to return to work in Oakland for a couple years after I was "of age". The valleys were more appealing then.
I've hunted Elk in the Livingston area in MT. I was using a .300 WM back then. For the clear cuts, that 7mm will do great.
Good Hunting,
S-A

We do Napa and Sonoma. But Napawino makes a better username !!!
This Sako is very smooth and the trigger is very good. Hopefully I will get out and shoot it this coming weekend. I do need to get some swivels and a good sling for it.

Interesting, I have an AV on it's way with a S/N 660XXX & it has the long barrel as well, I also have on with a S/N 610XXX & it had the shorter barrel. So somewhere after 610XXX they went to the longer barrel. I wonder roughly what S/N the change was?
Does yours have the 2 piece trigger guard? I believe it should.

It looks like it is one piece? What is the signifiigance or 1 or 2 piece?

No significance, if you open the floor plate you can tell if it is a solid 1 piece, or is 2 separate pieces. The screws are from the inside & you won't see them unless you pull the plate off. Just a design change is all. Just noticed, the crank is on the wrong side for me :wink2:

One piece. No screws.
I really like the palm swell. First rifle I've owned that has one. I didn't notice it until today. Pretty neat.
The bolt feel like it glides on glass compared to my other Brand R and W, bolt actions.
The more I examine it, the more is just oozes quality.
Oh, and since I shoot lefty, it was all the sweeter for me to find something nice like this.

Please Booyz... When talking about stocks, as nice as that one, they are made of and should be referred to as Timber ...

wood is something lying in the paddock, waiting to be picked up and put in the fireplase :)
