• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Several years ago, my father gave me a Sako rifle. He received the barreled action as a gift (years before me getting it), and made a thumbhole stock for it. Well, he never completely finished the stock, it was roughed out, cut and somewhat smooth, but that's about it. It certainly was usable, though. Very accurate rifle, I always loved that gun...
It is a 1979 or 1980 AI Vixen, in .223 caliber.
A couple years ago, I decided to put a new stock on it, so I went to the McMillan factory in North Phoenix (I live in the area), and I got VERY lucky. Someone had ordered a stock for the same action as mine, but with a heavy barrel and they never picked it up. So, I picked up that stock for CHEAP! All I had to do was glass bed the stock to fill the large gap that existed, as mine had a normal tapered barrel. I know, I didn't have to do it, but it was kind of weird looking. I topped it off with a older Redfield 4-12 AO scope and added a leather military style sling and a bipod.
So, now I have a pretty nice rifle. Accurate as heck, and a family heirloom.
Some day, my son (or grandson, if I ever have one) will inherit it.
I'll post some pics of it as soon as I can.

Pics as promised:
