• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I recently purchased a Sako with a L61R action and noticed a screw in the end of the cocking piece facing the shooter. Having prior experience with parts that can fly backwards during excessive chamber pressures (non-intentional), I am concerned about the screw, its function and if it were to come loose or break, if a firing pin, spring or other parts could be projected rearward into the shooters face. Any assistance would be appreciated.

G'Day M-Hunter...................
Is this Sako a Model-75 ?
The only thing I can think this bolt shroud/cocking piece screw
would be is the "Key-Concept" that comes standard(these days anyway) on 75
Hunters in the III IV and V action sizes.
I had a 75 Hunter Stainless in .243win (III action) and was at the range
on the same day a bloke got a Key Concept locking part(the rearmost bit you
lock and unlock with the special key) fly into his shooting glasses and
riccochet'd off landing some metres away.
He was using someones elses handloads that were far TOOOOOO ! ! ! HOT.
I sold mine for this exact reason. I almost ordered the NON-Key concept
bolt kit thats available in America from a fella at a place called Accuflite
I beleive but it was a little too expensive and I then fell in love with
the new Tikka T-3 Synthetic/Lite in the same calibre and now have a 6lb
rifle that I can carry all day .

It is an early model. Pre Garcia with the L61R action. I have become "gun" shy about some of the products that are sold today. A friend's .30-.378 Weatherby managed to unscrew the barrel, in Africa, and had to be repaired, in the field, with a plumber's pipe wrench. My shooting partner's new Win. model 70 .416 Rem. had the barrel screwed in so out of alignment that the bullet hit the dirt at 75 yds. while utilizing all the adjusment in the scope to raise the point of impact. Improperly machined at the factory. This is the reason I look to older Sakos. I can depend on them 100%. I don't know about the model 75 and newer.
