• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Mannlicher Stocks

Most of the Mannlicher stocked Sakos that I have seen or seen pictures of have a barrel band on the stock. Is this correct for all Mannlicher stocked Sakos? I have seen several for sale that do not have the barrel band.

Thanks,

Ike

my SAko is .308 and does h ave a barrel band - I bought it in 1984 and two years ago I had an awful time finding a stock - I think I found the last new stock that fit my rifle that was available in the USA - Sako - in Finland - couldn't even help me out. the stock, even though it is a mannlicher and runs the full length of the barrel , is actually 2 piece.

Some of the early Riihimaki and L57 Mannlichers didn't have the barrel band and had one piece stocks. In my opinion, these are some of the real Sako jewells that are out there. I'm lucky enough to have an L469 .222 Mag w/ one piece full stock and an L57 heavy barrel .243 w/ full one piece stock. The sling swivel is attached just like the half stocked rifles, since there is no barrel band to attach it to.

yes, most had the standard rifle length barrels, but there are a few Riihimaki full stocks out there w/ carbine barrels, 20 inches or so. Not sure if they had one piece stocks or not.
