• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

My wife made a perfect shot today on this fabulous Moose. She was with my Dad & the kids when they called him in. I was in another location calling also. I heard the shot & knew we were in for a good day. I couldn't get over to them fast enough I was so excited.
Believe it or not, they had the caller on the roof of the truck, the kids were screaming & this big boy still came in to see what was going on. My wife made a perfect front shoulder shot with her little 308 Sako & 180gr Federal power point. One shot is all it took, it fell right where it stood.
I am very proud & excited for my wife. He is going to taste good this winter :)

Here is the recovered bullet. 159gr left. I should have cleaned it up a bit better, but for sure that old power point has over 150gr retained in it. No complaints here.

I think this was much better than turkey! Enjoy. :D

Great looking family there, Wookie! Congrats to the wife. Sounds like the kids have a gift in the moose calling dept. That's what I call teamwork!

Hey Wookie,
Tell your wife well done! Also, tell Federal that they need to change their animal to bullet comparison they have on their boxes. They don't even rate their rounds in .300 win. mag suitable for Elk or moose

Congrats to your wife again!

Wookie- I think Jim can move this if need be. Don't think it is hurting a thing where it's at. We are just happy for your family's good fortune.- Best, Mike

Gents,

Looks like Mama Bear should get a big "bear hug" for her accomplishment!

That little .308 180 Federal Classic did the job well, it seems!

A Sako in .308...does it get better?

Wes

Congrats on another tasty critter. I am real curious if that was taken close to home or if you dropped in to see us in Montana. That looks a great deal like the country I hunt goats in, in Nebraska and Wyoming. I don't know how long you have been hunting Antelope but if you don't run them before you shoot them, they don't drive you from the house when you cook them. I'll assume you know that hence the 500 yd. shot-

That was southern saskatchewan which is very similar to Montana terrain. This little fellow is going to be turned into jerky & pepperoni. We got 600 pounds of meat off my wifes moose, so we have more than a freezer full already.

Fantastic!!! Good shooting and hunting to both of you! For me, there's nothing better than moose meat in the freezer!
You probably know this already, but if this is your first moose here's a freezing tip from my years hunting moose in AK. The closer you trim your moose of fat and sinew and freeze only red meat, or red moose meat with beef suet in your hamburg, the longer your moose meat will stay fresh in the freezer. Moose fat and sinew goes bad fairly quickly and taints the meat. I learned the hard way with my first moose! (This probably is true for white tail and mule deer, too, but I only have experience with moose, which I wanted to share.)
Man, my mouth is watering just thinking about moose meat again!!!!!!
