• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hey all,
Sako Mag's and clips to be purchased tomorrow at gunshow. This is what the shop owner is bringing.
Original Sako: .22 Long Rifle; .222 four round; .222 six round? He is not sure of capacity.
Aftermaket; .222 (three of them); .22 LR; .22-250 (three of them); .243; .22 hornet; .308; .22 Magnum.
I will figure out the fairest way to sell them here, and of course the way that is most profitable. No Obamanomics for all you Sako peasants:bigsmile3:
Regards, Will

Hi Will,

I'm interested if there are any P75 .22 Hornet Magazines available. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Stuart

Hey all,
Since I am not a Sako clip-fed rifle guy, I'm trying to determine what a fair price is for the Mag's I purchased. I believe there was an original .222 Mag on E-bay and the last I saw there were 15 bidders and the high bid at the time was $260! I may not part with any of them until I have a better understanding of the supply and demand, although I am pretty sure the supply is pretty low and demand pretty high. I will promise this though; None of them will be listed on an auction site. Maybe some of you guys here who are in the know and don't need a Mag. can help me here.
Regards, Will

HI:
I am interested in Finnwolf 3rd magazine. Happy to buy from you. Take all you have
Thanks
Tom

I've got a new aftermarket clip for a L46 Hornet if you want to trade one of the 222 aftermarket clips for it.

Hey S-A,
No problem on the cost plus 10%.....as long as everyone else here reciprocates. How about that deal with one of your Golden Anny's!?!?:wink2:

Guys -

I think this may be an instance where the internet isn't your best bet. Many of us have gotten to think of Net shopping as the cheapest as well as the best selection. I think this clip situation may be the exception to the rule. I've heard the story of the broken die to mfgr. aftermarket L46 222 based clips from 3 unrelated sources, and I tend to believe it... The lack of new aftermarket clips coming on the market has driven their prices up, and taken the originals with it and creating sort of a panic. The boys in internet and auction sales were the first to catch on. However, I think there are still quite a few in the supply pipeline.

My suggestion would be to start checking out the gunshows. While original clips are not common for me to find, I live in true Sako wasteland. Every show will have at least one or two guys that are 'Clips Galore' guys - might have several tables each... Last fall I asked one of these guys about Sako clips and he offered me aftermarket 222 clips at $35 for 3 shot and $55 for the 6 shot version. I passed them up as I was looking for originals, and thought the price was plenty high anyway.

Our big spring show is this coming weekend. I'll see if I can scratch up some clips to pass on at my cost. Suggest everybody interested do the same. They're still out there, as Will found out. Besides, gunshows are great - I always like to take one of my Sako friends for a walk and let em socialize a little.

Let your feet do the walking this time, and not your fingers! Dick

Will, I'm needing a magazine for my 22 LR P 54. Did you get one of these at the show by any chance??
Glen

Hey Dick and all,
Would love to know who has those aftermarket clips offered to you that you passed up, I would buy them in a minute. Also, just curious. What is your cost for the Sako clips you may find? My costs include gas, lodging, food, parking, entry fee etc. for several gun shows I attend within a 250 mile radius on a near monthly basis. Also is based on the old theory of capitalism....you know, supply and demand? Further, what "Quite a few in the supply pipeline" are you referring to when 15 individuals were in a bidding war on E-bay for one .222 clip that reached $260???? Original Sako rings go now for well above $100 as well as top condition peep sights!!! My complete chance find of one guy with some Sako clips, over years of gunshow searching for anything Sako, with over god knows how much money spent in travel associated costs, does not bode well for me to offer something for what I paid for it. Collecting firearms and accessories is not for the faint of heart nor wallet. If anyone out there wants to let your feet do the walking looking for Sako clips, be prepared for quite a journey. Otherwise, pay the going rate. Have it now because you did not have it and needed/wanted it, and save the costs of looking for it. Old Sako stuff is not going to get cheaper.
Regards, Will

OK! Here is my 2 cents as a founder of this site!
We all know that capitalism rules, with free enterprise, supply & demand and all that BS!
And that is good, no doubt about it!
BUT I donxB4t like it when we try to squeeze every little nickel out of every deal we make!
At least not here on Sako CollectorxB4s Club!
I am so tired of people trying to "make a buck"! We have had enough of those trolls here!! Wanna make money, set up a business or head to an auction site!
We have had a Gentlemans rule here for a long time and I intend to keep it that way!
If we canxB4t help each other out, well who can??
And yes I know of the bidding wars on ebay and other sites as I frequent those a lot!
But we as collectors have nothing to gain from overpricing!
If I were to calculate in, all the costs for my collection, well then I could probably just throw all the money away beforehand!
So here is the deal for advertising on SCC from now on!
State a reasonable price for both parties or take the business elsewhere!
And no links to auction sites! We all know where to find them!!
And to be 100% clear! IxB4 m not saying that anyone should give away anything! Of course not! But be reasonable!! That is all IxB4m asking!
Regards

Jim,
Thank you for the insightful and positive approach to members treating other members with fairness and consideration in buying and selling on the site. I, for one, would not consider mileage and per diem to profit from an item for a fellow member who has an earnest need for a Sako item that I happened to come across at a gun show, or any other place for that matter, that I was going to attend anyway. I would like to think another member would do that for me as well. Unless that seller states he/she is actually operating a business to do this for a living.
I think it all boils down to the item at hand. Those who need things that are posted should go into it as well informed as they can. There are enough people on the site to PM for opinions. In kind, the seller will reveal his/her true colors and his/her item may not be bought by a member; and ultimately go to Gun Broker, or eBay, etc., where it belongs.
Further, as an example, I would sell any of my guns to (almost) any member for what I paid for them originally, plus postage to FFL. However, I am not ready to sell any of my guns. I think most people are happy to get what they paid for some of the things they have and not take a loss. By the same token.if you make a purchase and have to figure out what its worth afterwords, its likely you paid too much to begin with. Never mind thinking you're doing a favor for someone.
Lastly, I do not participate in this forum to buy things. However, if I do see something, I would consider that a member with knowledge of his sale item would be better to buy from because you would assume they have taken as good care of whatever they have as possible and would exercise reasonableness to other members. We all have a "silent" reputation here on the site. It's easy to spot the frauds, and a few of them have been already banned.
The applicable phrase here is: "Caveat Emptor" (Latin) "Let the buyer beware". Sellers, please don't be overly aggressive about what you are selling. A lot of members don't post anything on the site, but look over our shoulders for information in the things we post. That includes "good deals" in the applicable threads. Some things reflect negatively by association on all of us. And yes, I include myself in the group. However, there is more good being done here, and as we grow we all need to strive to keep it that way.
Regards,
S-A

Jim -

Thanks for the clarification and direction.

Will -

Not sure why you feel the need to get all defensive about the clips. I was pointing out that members have the opportunity to go to a show and stumble across clips just as you did. I think you overstate the scarcity and difficulty involved. When folks get it in their head that 1) they're desperate, 2) they have no other choice, and that 3) gotta have it right now... then you end up with a situation like the 2 guys that battled for the 222 Mag clip mentioned. The bad part is it just makes things worse for the dealings later - unless your the seller.

Within the last 5 months I've seen aftermarket L46 clips in the original short version sell online for as little as $13. I personally bought an original 222 length clip chambered and marked for Bee at auction for $19 about 8 months ago. Both were great deals, and I'm not suggesting they are common or average. What I am doing is encouraging members to not get in a big rush and use all the options available to them. Hopefully they'll get a new die made and start producing 222 aftermarket clips again soon and this upcycle will slowly receed.

Will, feel free to place an ad(s) with prices and pics in the For Sale section. Please take any further conversations on items listed to the PM and/or email system. While I can't know if I'll have luck myself this weekend, I'll do the same if I score. By all means, price as you see fit. I understand you carry quite a bit of overhead in your 'business model'.

Best regards, Dick

Man I like that, put a price on it or walk it on down the road. I always wondered how long it would take before the mods would step in and stop the guys that troll for prices. Especially when you see the guy with 1 or 2 posts, makes no contributions to the discussions and is just looking for free classifieds.
