• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

load my l691 for down with the bolt closed,,,

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hello Bloorooster.
This l691 is my first bolt action rifle. I was in the Air Force 20 year ago and i know the pistols, the automatic guns...the usual weapons for a soldier.
When i recibed my l691 I cans see that his action only can move with the "securty" off, and when charged the magacine the last bullet came into the "recamara".
I donxB4t want climb a montain with my Sako on my back knowing that it is with a buller ready to fire.
IxB4m thinking about this and said myself, and if be posible load for the exit door with the bolt closed?. In this case iIxB4ve got four bullets in, enoght for a hunting day, and the bolt is empty.
And I prefer ask first in the forum becouse my sargent always said, the devil load the weapon and the stupid fire it.
Sorry for my English.

Pepe...I think I understand, you want the chamber to be empty and safe while traveling or climbing. Situations that need extra safety...I see two choices one is to keep the gun unloaded until you have reached your spot or stand...or simply load the rifle as you would any time, then BEFORE you close the bolt, depress the loaded rounds into the magazine until the bolt will move past the top round closing on an empty chamber...this would be the quickest way to enable a quick first shot....it is not possible to load the magazine from the bottom, or at least not that I've seen...where are you from pepe?-Bloo
