• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi this is my first post ,I own 2 sakos a AII .308 refinished for my son, and I just purchased a L61R serial # 54## yes four digit is this a 1961 ? It is a bit of a misfit it was a Finnbear 30-06 ,then .308 Norma mag but the gunsmith removoed the barrel (Bofors) and found barrel threads damaged! So he replaced it with a .338 WM also the stock was a mess! so I striped and oiled stock but the person who had bedded it took bedding out to cross bolt? But even though its a misfit I love it and have been bitten by the sako bug!
Oh yes she went went moose hunting last week (Canada Eh!) ,sighted in with hornady superformance 185gr. GMX super less than 1" moa first half box. So what year is this girl and where can I get a nice stock to dress her up so she looks the way she deserves? Yes she's topped with a nice 4200 4x16 tact. scope, and we leave tomorrow for a 2 week whitetail hunt.
Happy hunting form the canada ! Burr

Burr,
Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are off to a pretty wild start. I wouldn't call it a misfit so much as a "work in progress". That's a shame about the Bofors barrel, although those are an interesting story in their own right. I think it's safe to say your L61R 4 digit receiver would date in the early 60's. No sense bogging you down right now with your hunt coming up in less than 24 hours. Hope you have good luck.
Check in when you get back. Just wanted to welcome you aboard for now.
Best Regards,
S-A
