• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Would anyone have an idea of the production date 74xxx of an L61R FINNBEAR 30.06 no stamps or marking on barrel other then made in finland and caliber no markings ahead of forearm and do not want to take apart stock and chance marking up screws or floorplate which i have done in the past.

340wby: be patient as many of the regulars are off-line at present due to the holiday weekend. Guys like stonecreek, misako50, mcgrif2243 and others really know their stuff and will be able to age your rifle and assist you with any other related information. You should get other comments soon...

First of all, if you purchase a Pachmayr gunsmith screwdriver set from Brownells of Midway, You won't bugger the screws.....and if you don't take it apart you will never know the evil rust and corrosion lurking or not lurking there.
Can you post some pictures? Does it have a 2 or 3 lug bolt? Are the sight ramps flat or waffled/checkered? What does the top of the shroud look like. Does it have an express rear sight or none at all? Does it have a front sight cover? You own a "transition" rifle for which there are numerous variants. It's either a Garcia or Firearms International possibly purchased in Europe and brought back by a GI.....hence no import mark. I agree with Misako, 1972. Regards, Rick.

Ok thanks guys for info I dont think I will take it apart it came unfired in the box and still has the paper protectors for the swivels yet.Great site thanks again.
