• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

L61R Carbine's

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hey all,
Anyone have info as to how many L61R Finnbear Carbine's were made in 1971? A poster on this sight had provided info that my 7mm mag. was one of 196. Curious as to the total production.
Regards, Will

Yes, Will. One of the old newsletters from the now defunct Sako Collectors Association posted production info for the Finnbear Carbines built in 1971, as well as other Mannlicher configurations for small and medium actions. 194 fullstock rifles were made in 7mm. Sako also made over 200 carbines in .22-250 that year, but one of my holy grails is to find one with the 24" full length rifle barrel in full stock. Only 9 of these little jewels were made total from 1969 - 1971, with only 4 of these rifles imported to the US.

Incidently, my quest this evening was to find cataloging for the Finnbear Carbines, and I managed to do that. Garcia catalog Volume #4 turns out to be from 1971, and catalogs the Finnbear fullstocks in 8 chamberings. The Finnbear fullstocks are also catalogued in Garcia Volume #5 (1972), which I was surprised to see. I know that some of the rarer L61R fullstocks were definately all built in 1971, the .375H&H comes to mind here. I have factory records to show this. But now, I must found out if they built any in 1972, and my guess is maybe, and may be transitional with three locking lug bolts and other pre-1972 rifle characteristics. I'll be on the lookout for this, I'll tell you that.

Does anyone out there have an L61R Finnbear Carbine with a 1972 inpection date hangtag ? .....I must know !
