• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

L61 Finnbear .270
Can anyone tell me when this rifle was manufactured? Its Quality, Value in good condition? What does Finnbear mean? Overall I have heard good things about Sako, but mostly based on the 75 models. Is the accuracy backed by the company the same way as the new models? oh And what about the older Redfield scopes, older ones 3x - 9x? Thanks for any help provided.

sounds like you have a superb combination. It is hard to beat an old Sako Finnbear in .270. I have taken many VA whitetails with mine, and wouldn't trade it for anything. Sako made these guns for many years, and you can look up your serial # under the Documents section of this website to get an idea when your rifle was built. Determining value is all subjective and usually ranges between $500-$800 for sporters, a little more for the deluxe models.

Hello, I have a Sako L61R in 270 Win serial 91XXX which I believe was produced in the mid 1970s. I bought this rifle used in the late 1970s in mint condition and it both works flawlessly as well as being very accurate. I use a Burris 3x-9x scope on this rifle but the Redfield would be fine if it is still in good shape. I use a Redfield variable on another rifle and I think very highly of it as well.
I like the weight and feel of this rifle. It is very stable and the 270 cartridge is a pleasure to shoot.
