• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hey, i was wondering if anybody knew if any stocks from the newer Sakos fit the Forester.

They will not fit, tang lengths, mag wells and barrel contours come to mind here. Others who tinker w/ the stocks more often than myself will have all the particulars.

Even some stocks for earlier L579s and later L579s are not fully compatable. The bottom metal was very slightly wider on the earliest L579, so a stock from one of those will have a gap around the bottom metal of a later action; conversely, a later L579 stock would have to be opened up a little to fit an earlier L579 action. Garcia and later sporter barrels have a slightly heavier contour than FI models, but there should be little problem adapting one to the other.

However, the "95% inletted" unfinished stocks are the same for the L57, and early & late L579 since they are made to require additional wood shaping, anyway.

To all- I have only found stock fit problems in the deluxe series rifles in L579. My first deluxe, serial# 10xxx, has the narrower bottom metal .I have or have seen and documented, 1962 Wide, 1963Narrow, 1964 and 1965 wide and narrow and 1967 wide. There seems to be no real accuracy here. I believe that you can find this in most year classes of deluxes up to 1968 ie: both wide and narrow. What I haven't seen is a difference in the Standard foresters from 1961 on up. This is my personal quest for my "holy grail". Actually, I hope I don't find one. We are back to Sakos being Sakos, so if you find a stock you think will work, ask for some bottom metal measurements. L57 stocks will not work either. Regards, Misako
