• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Im new here and actually have never shot a L579 or any other Sako in my life nor really wanted to, until this past weekend when my wife received her first deer rifle from her grandparents. It was her grandmas rifle and while they dont remember what year they bought it im guessing from other post ive read its was somewhere between 63 and 65. Its not a deluxe b/c there is no leaf on the bottom of grip, what is kinda odd to me is the stock color is much darker than most of the other pictures of Forresters on here the wood looks burled almost. I havent checked the scope rings to see if they are Sako also but, MAN this is a sweet light shooting gun even with the nearly and probably 50yrold Lyman challenger scope (which was her greatgrandpas) on it still shoots 1" groups with fact. rem ammo 110gr that was bought in 1980 and took a deer this weekend (my wifes 1st). I only have one problem though....

I have no excuse to purchase a new rifle for (my wife) to hunt with...lol But after shooting this rifle i could careless about another 243 for her ill try and get some pics up tonight. Oh and while talking to her grandpa about this gun he said he remembered her grandma calling from the gunshop to ask if she could buy it, he said she paid $125 for it!

man those WERE the good ol days. This forum is great i joined looking for info about this rifle and pretty much had all my questions answered before i was able to post.

Jedos- What a great story and what a great start for some new memories to share with the two Grandparents. There couldn't be a better use for that kind of gift. 1964 is the date the archives had for the rifle so everyones memory is good, and the price was a decent deal even back then. Thanks for sharing that with us.- Misako
