• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

L57/579

Not really. You will have issues with the safety and the floor plate, tiggerguard and magazine group. You may have a problem with the barrel channel also. I guess I could have just said no. Regards, Misako 50

Thanks Misako,

I saw a bishop stock at Numrich semi inletted for L57, and I was hoping it would do to replace my varmint stock that was, er, destroyed in a bedding mishap.
Needless to say, I'm heartbroken and looking for a replacement.

Paul- send me your contact info. I may have what you need or I can point you in the right direction. Regards, Misako

Misako,

Similar issue here, though the other way around. I have an L57 action and was wondering whether inletting was significantly different on an L579 stock.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Codeman- Other than barrel configuration, you would have a shallow well to drop the magazine in and the bottom metal doesn't fit. I have a L57 stock if you are looking to purchase something that will work. If you have a L579 stock, we could work out a trade.- Mike

Misako,

Thanks for answering that for me. I have an L57 Forester deluxe in .308 Win that belonged to my father, and the grip cap was recently sheared off. It's a mighty ugly break, and I will need a pro to repair. Rifle is mint other than that. Pending repairs, I had hoped to find a replacement stock (preferably original Sako, but "field" grade). If you have one, I would be interested in a purchase rather than a trade. Can you send or post photos and give me a quote?

I do have a Fajen semi-inletted stock for an L57, but am not a stock maker. I could throw that into the deal if you are interested.

Thanks,

Codeman

Codeman- I'll take some pictures and e-mail them to you this weekend. You can use hotmail or let me know if you want them sent to another address. Thanks, Mike
