• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hi,

I just joined group as I just purchased a Sako L461 in 223 rem. I have a question to the L461 experts in the house about the rifle's rate of twist and maybe some tips on rebedding the rifle.

Thanks in advance

It is 1:12", good for varmint weight bullets. Try the 50 and 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips or the Hornady V-Max's.

Bedding is straightforward:
First, shoot it and see if it needs it.
If so, then hog out some wood behind the lug area.
Make sure the barrel doesn't rub on the stock.
Prep the metal and bed the recoil lug area first.
Next day do the tang.
Day three do the bottom.
Or, do what I do these days and hand the rifle plus $100.00 to my gunsmith.
He beds fifty to 100 rifles a year. I used to do three. Simple choice for me.

LawndartF16,

Thanks for the info, 1:12 is what I expected but was hoping it was 1:9 or better.

It goups at 1.5 inch at 100 yds, my suspicion is a distorted stock and a recrowning job. I was wondering if a special inletting screw is needed to align and free float the barrel.

I am debating with myself if I should bed first or should rebarrel first.

Thanks for the response
