• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I have located an L461 mannlicher 222rem with an old leupold scope for $770 in 90% condition. Is this a good or great buy? Thanks for your help, Skip

Yes- Buy it! Before Mcgrif sees it.

Skip, Watch for PM (messages) - tab on top right corner. Don't tell anyone where you found it if you haven't bought it already :wink2:

Geez, thanks alot guys. You make it sound like I'm some sort of Sako Mannlicher fanatic!! Couldn't be farther from the truth:angel2: FYI Skip, alot has to do with it's age. Is it an "A" series action? L61R action? If you could provide serial number approximate age could be determined. Is it all original? Sako rings? Has front sight hood?. Also when you state "old Leupold", the word old is relative. My 21 and 22 year old kids think I'm old at 46. My 74 year old dad thinks I'm a kid. Also, condition factors cause the 10% reduction? Would like to see it to give you more advice and don't worry, I only collect the pre-72 Finnbear Mannlichers (long/magnum action)
Regards, Will

Will,
Huh? "...and don't worry I only collect......"? What was that last rifle your wife just bought? :evil2: Seriously though, for my edification, would an L61R action fit in a L461 mannlicher? You are the man. I really don't know. I'm just into the long/magnum actions, too. I have a lot to learn. How'd the Colt thing work out?
Thanks,
S-A

Hey S-A That gorgeous little .243 does not count....UMM, my "wife" thought she was buying a .264 Mag.:bigsmile3: My bad S-A, when writing the post I forgot Skip stated his rifle was an L461. I had L61R on my mind for some odd reason. So, not to confuse anyone, an L61R long action will not fit in the stock, mannlicher or standard, of an L461 short action.

Will,
Duly noted and recorded. I'm thinking about straying from my niche a little so I've been watching you :wink2:. All I have to do now is to get MY wife to start buying Sako's!

Hey S-A,
Regarding the Coltsman idea, Mike (Misako) steered me clear and I agreed with him that for return on investment, I'm better off sticking with the Pre-72's. I might pick one up though if priced right and pristine. Interesting "collector" ism that the two names combined of Sako and Colt don't bring ooos and ahhhs. Look at Colt/Sauer. Lots of ooos and ahhhs and $$$! I am into Browning Safari Grades, either Sako or FN action. I like Mannlicher-Schoenaur as well but I cannot justify the price when I can get a nice pre-72 or BSG for a lot less $$. Also S-A, I get to buy all the Jewelry and shoes I want! Everything seems to be working out just fine:wink2:
Regards, Will

Will,
You are a lucky man. I get to buy the jewelry and shoes, too! But I do have another GA on the way to go under the tree, probably the Monday after Christmas. I can wait :bigsmile3:
Merry Christmas,
S-A
