• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Without pictures that's an impossible question to answer. It's like me asking, "Interested in the value of my Ford truck".

Also what country? about 4.6k at my local gunshop if in mint condition and unmodified. as low as 3.5k up in Oulu.

Thats in the country they where produced. Stuff gets pretty wild once you look international. But i imagine it will be more? A valmet petra goes for 650-1000 here but i have seen them in canadian webstores for 5k-8k. A mint full stock sako in 222rem goes for 1300 in my local gunshop but i gasp at some of the prices my american friends pay for them. Dont take too mutch from those numbers themselves, iam no expert i just googled some examples. It does matter what country you are in tho, like a lot.

Interested in the value of a Valmet 78
Post some photos and information such as caliber, etc. and pics of markings and we may be able to help. The m/78 is kind of an odd beast, being basically a semiauto version of a squad automatic weapon ISAW). Most of them were built in .308. but there are a few in .223 and 7.62x39, Extra magazines add a lot of value, as does the "sniper" configuration with a Dragunov-style stock. The price on these has gone up quite a bit in the past few years. I've owned several of them, but sold them because they are big, clumsy, heavy, and not especially accurate.

The .308 magazines are made from G3/HK91 blanks and are not interchangeable with the mags for the m/76. The .223 and 7.62x39 mags are identical to other Valmet mags.

sorry, a bit short on content , search forgotten weapons on youtube for this model, or
at morphyauctions.com and search valmet for listing of all past valmets sold. Most of the 78's listed were converted to nfa firearms

Oddly enough it is the only AK variant you can legally have in canada. Last one I saw was in 7.62x39 and was 6800.00
pretty sure you can also own the m88 and m76 just like in finland. Also civy versions of the RK platform made by valmet. Iam on my way to buying a m88/petra. got the permit this morning.

My favourite Valmet pic was in the 80's when that soviet satellite crash-landed up in Finnish Lapland. There was a great big guy in a big coat shouldering a Valmet LMG configuration and a giant fur hat. This made quite the impression on me, I have wanted one ever since.
