Interesting .17 rem

    Be interesting to know if this one has the original barrel. At that serial number it’s the earliest .17 rem I’ve ever seen! It looks like it’s got the short Australian cocking piece too. It has the black grip cap and I wonder if a bofors stamp?


    The .17 rem L461’s over here are mostly around the 130xxx to 160xxx range.

    It has to be a re-barrel. The .17 Remington was not introduced until 1971 and this rifle shows pre-1971 features like the black grip cap and forearm stock checkering pattern. The SN is not a certain indicator of age but is consistent with a mid-1960's gun.

    It is possible that it has a later Sako .17 Rem barrel screwed into an earlier action.
