• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I've got a Sako Forester, model L579,srial no. 21920. It has Bofors Steel stamped on the right side of the barrel. It has engraving on the floor plate and trigger guard. On the plate it has 2 deer inside a fence(Ithink) Is this something from the factory or did the original owner add this engraving? I believe the rifle was made in the 50's but I'm unsure. Has anybody got any ideas or suggestions on how I can get info on this rifle? Also has the deluxe stock.

Buckbanger- what you describe sounds like factory. I have a deluxe in .243 with that kind of plate engraving, but I enterpret the two deer in trees, not in a fence. The .308 deluxes I have, have an african antelope on the plates, and leaves on the guard. I have seen a couple of trumped up forester deluxes on the internet auctions. The latest of which is a 22-250 del.- Regards, Misako 50

Thanks very much. The rifle has been in my family since the early 60's. I'd also like to know whether the checkering on the stock was pressed or done by hand.

They are supposed to be hand checkered. I certainly wish I could do that well.( or at all ) I can't tell you about the wood to metal fit being hand done, But it's as good as it gets. By the way, is there a diamond or a tree on your grip cap? Misako 50
