• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I recently purchased a sako at a gunshow and after viewing some of the post I am confused on what I have. Heres some details. Serialnumber is high #508002 all thats on the barrell is Sako 30.06 and it says Finnbear made in finland. On the action it states L61R No. 508002 then a mark that looks like a head with a crown then the initials RA .There appears to be a prong horn engraved in the floor plate high luster blueing real nice glossy stock with little bear head on the pistol grip. Also the barrel is real thick! compared to a golden eagle that I have its almost twice as thick. The lugs on the bolt theres only 2. But the has NO bofors markings and NO garcia markings! Can anybody help me in telling me when it what made and anything else about it thanks for your help-Danny

sounds like a Finnbear deluxe from the mid-70s to me. 1974 or 1975. Garcia was importing the guns back then and yours may have been purchased overseas and brought back home. Maybe from a serviceman. Chances are the barrel is made of Bofors steel, but not marked that way. As for barrel thickness, Sako had a variety of barrel configurations back then, and your rifle may have one of the rarer barrel variants. The best way to see what kind of barrel you have is to compare it with other Sakos, which is what I've done. But this method can be costly.

Concur with DeerGoose. Sounds like a rifle brought back from Europe by a serviceman....I own 3 of them myself that were purchased in Germany in the mid 70's that have no Garcia marks cause they were made for the European market. please recheck for the Garcia mark on the under side of the barrel just in front of where the stock ends...it's laser etched and very small! Either way it is a deluxe model which are not only beautiful in looks but also tremendous in functionality. If you reload, e-mail me for some terrific deer loads. By the way I bought my son a Garcia '06 for his 14th Birthday.....shoots sub 1/2 inch groups all day long. Regards, Rick.
