Hi Ray smith here I live in northern BC Canada, I have a few sakos and really enjoy the fit and feel of them, I have an older AV that pulls up better then anything else I have.
I also have an old Sako barreled gun with matching bolt on a PH reicever?
And that is why I'm joining your group is to try and figure out that this gun is...

Your Sako barreled rifle appears to be a Sako-Mauser which was built by Sako on an FN Mauser action. The safety wing appears to be a replacement from a Parker-Hale action according to the "PH" on it.

Thanks, that was quick. I've been trying to figure that out for a year now
would there be any way to get an original safety wing. I'm assuming not but....
I might not be following proper procedures asking all these questions in my hello. And if thats the case I'm sorry. I'm new to groups and fourms, but I do know the wealth of knowledge on the

There are thousands -- probably hundreds of thousands -- of FN Mauser actions floating around and the wing safety off of any of them would be "original" insofar as its origin, but if the PH safety is working I certainly wouldn't go to any trouble or expense to replace it. The Sako-Mausers are excellent rifles, but command no particular collector premium, so having the PH-marked wing doesn't devalue the rifle.

It seems a bit sloppy. But it does work fine.
Really appreciate you time and info.

All Mauser bolt safety's are "sloppy", as you say. Leave well enough alone & go enjoy!
