• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

If you have ever purchased Firearms through the Internet or Mail Order, you are aware of the transfer fees most Dealers charge to accept a Firearm, conduct a background check and deliver the firearm to you. I know because I am a Federal Licensed Firearms Dealer. Most of us charge a standard fee ranging from $15.00 to $50.00 and sometimes more. If you purchase just a few firearms a year you can save by Obtaining Your FFL TM. Just think of the cost savings alone of buying a low wholesale prices and then your opportunity to resell to others for profit.

I had a FFL for about 12 years. Sold a few guns, reloads and repaired stocks, etc. out of my basement. Beware: You must have a background check, be fingerprinted by state police, and submit a photo when you apply. References are required. You must indicate the nature of your "business", and set forth the hours your "gunshop" will be open daily. You are required to keep transaction records, and the BATF can examine these without prior notice at your place of business at any time. Three years ago, I attempted to renew my FFL. Submited the $100 (more now, I think) fee, notarized application, photo, fingerprints, etc., etc. About 2 months later, got a call from a BATF agent in Atlanta. She asked some very pointed questions, i.e. "Does your gunshop have a sign out front? Where is the busines physically located? What is your state sales tax license number (I had none); Do you have a local business license? (I did not). How many guns did you sell last year?" There were other questions as well, and I did not lie. She said she would investigate my application, and let me know in 6 - 8 weeks. A few days later, I decided I did not want to go to a federal pen, so I bundled my few records, returned everything to BATF and terminated my request. BATF did not return the fee. I submit that if you are successful in this venture, you may live to regret it. Not worth the aggravation to save a few $$$, believe me.

I also had an F.F.L. for 12 years but I lived across the street from a highschool so after they changed the laws I gave it up. Besides I never liked the idea of the feds being able to walk in and search my place at will, which they can do if you hold an F.F.L.
