• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I just got my first Sako rifle after wanting one for a while.
Its an AV model in .25/06 in excellent condition, with a monte carlo style stock, with fairly nice figure in it. It has the best trigger of any rifle I have owned, and it is to my mind probably displays the best quality, fit and workmanship as well. In short it exceeds my expectations - I am comparing it to the sako 75's I have seen in the shop and I think the older one compares well.
I took it to the range yesterday and sighted it in and fired 2 three shot groups - the first one came in at 1 & 1/8th and the second group at exactly one inch for three rounds. I am very pleased and thought I better share it here!
It has a serial number 593640 and I am guessing it is early eighties - can anyone date that?

Congratulaions on the new rifle. The problem now is that all your other rifles will seem inadequate once you have held and shot the rifle, considering the palm swell, raised cheekpiece, one piece forged bolt and overall Sako quality.

Based on that serial. I would have to guess mid-eighties. Let us know how it shoots.

Welcome to Sako land. Your rifle is just a good one....most shoot better. Your's will too. Did you clean the rifle......really clean? You need to spray some Wipeout in there and see how much copper comes out.....then shoot some groups. Also use Butches Boreshine after the Wipeout. Brush about 10 strokes, then Jag with patches til clean. Once you have the copper out, you will be shooting way way sub MOA. Good luck and regards, Rick.
