    A little gem from the records: Finnwolf serial number 141 (inspected April 1964) is listed as caliber 5.7x51. If I'm not mistaken, this is a cartridge designed in Germany that is a "stretched" .222 Magnum (the .222 Magnum has a 47mm case). As I understand it, the .222 Magnum standard ballistics were just short of what was required by law for roe deer, so someone came up with a stretched version that met the minimum requirement.


    I'll continue to search the records as I have time and will post anything that seems of interest on Finnwolfs.

    Bobby it appears you have a very nice Finnwolf. It does not look like a ambidextrous nor does it apear to have the plastic grip cap talked about. It appears to be the flat bottom 3 shot model that has had the open sights removed and has had a pad added.
