• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Finnwolf VL63 finnwolf accuracy

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

lhsako- I get exceptional accuracy with my .308 Finnwolf. They are as accurate as any rifle that I shoot on a regular basis,ie:hunting. The action screws play a very important part in that function.(more so on the wolf than the bolt rifles) That has been my experience. I have a .7-08Rem. custom finnwolf that shoots well also. The .243 Finnwolf hasn't had a real good test but it seems to offer excellent accuracy also. Buy a good one. You won't be sorry.-Misako

misako50....Please elaborate on what I underlined in your post. Thanks

At the range on a sturdy bench @ 100 yds (mid Sept., temp around 70) my 308 finnwolf put a 3 shot group just covered by a nickel. (Two shots touched and 1 flyer). This was done with my reloads, worked up for my rifle. My 243 finnwolf shoots just as well. I consider the finnwolf to be a very accurate and well made rifle. PS, where in PA are you?? I am also in PA (Jersey border).

I have accuracy experience somewhat the same as "oldgoat". My loads will not be published on a forum again. Let me know if you buy one and I may share thru the PM system. I have found over the years that components are more important than "loads" when it comes to accuracy. What I go thru to get "there", may be totally unacceptable from one person to another. I can tell you that the loads I use in my bolt rifles are near maximum and the loads in my Finnwolf are not. they are 2 whole grains short. I also would not reload more than 5 or six times with the brass I use. Others may wish to walk a finer line and get more mileage from their brass. If I didn't give a damn about blowing up a rifle, then I might develope a different personna, but for now, I have never met a Sako I didn't like. Stock screws and tightness have always been important for accuracy( among other things) in my rifles. One Finnwolf in particular was very sensitive to change. All three of them are somewhat sensitive. Rule of thumb is to get them as tight as reason and common sense allows.-Misako

somewhat? how hard is it to measure a group w/ a caliper misako? just having some fun w/ u...lol. i've been reloading for 39 year so i know the dance. i also hunt w/ max. loads and could care less about brass life. i'm interested in performance on game. quick humane kills always! thanks to you and oldgoat for your imput. tight groups>>>>>

Lhsako- A short time ago, I had a good day at the range and had my .308 Finnwolf for a final test prior to Deer season. I was using factory Winchester Loads (not the expensive ones just super X) and had three holes under a dime and printed the fourth right where I wanted the scope set at. Three holes touching with a Finnwolf or any lever action is exceptional. I've done similar shooting with my Forester Del. which I call my #1 gun and get the accuracy to a nice level if I am not hurried or it isn't windy or otherwise uncomfortable. What I have done are groups that are fair, good or mediocre, but it depends on me and not the rifle a good share of the time. As for publishing my loads, I did that wrong once and won't take a chance on doing it wrong again.-Misako

that says alot for the factory ammo! impressive. always nice to have a factory load that shoots well even if u load ur own. what would would say is the average 3 shot group on calm days at the range?

Wind isn't a factor at the range, it just bugs me. The range is well protected but I hate it blowing at me or on me. You can expect Sako 1MOA accuracy from a Finnwolf. my "average" probably isn't that good. If you are looking for a definitive answer, i have to be honest and tell you I don't shoot enough thru any one hunting rifle to come to any concrete conclusions, other than my forester. I might also tell you that two of the FWs are custom rifles with new barrels(sako) and the .308 is factory.-Misako

Yikes!- That's a lot of Bullwinkle

- I have tagged a couple of those with a .308W but only in a bolt gun. They didn't go far either. They were both within 125 yds. tho.-Misako

What .308 bullet are you guys using to shoot moose?
RugerBob, that was fine marksmanship with your .308 Finnwolf! Again, I think this shows that a Sako's hunting and target accuracy or lack of accuracy usually is the shooter.

Bull Moose 2007, couple hunderd pounds heavier, required a follow-on shot.
