1. Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Here are some pictures of my recently completed A-1 done by Greg Tannel. The bolt has been sleeved front and rear and the firing pin has been ground and bushed as well. I bought the action by itself. The barrel is a Lilja 1-9” twist. I found the stock new.

The bolt and the Winchester type safety are fascinating. Tell us more!

    Nice rifle.

Did Greg also do the bolt safety conversion? It's the first I've seen that is in combination with the Sako factory target trigger.

Also.....what diameter was the firing pin tip reduced to?

Sorry, I posted the wrong draft. Ed LaPour of the Custom Gunmakers Guild made the 3-position safety. I'm not sure what diameter the firing pin is, but it's pretty small. He (Greg)told me not to drop it!
The action and the stock came from JB at Accuflite. Greg pillar-bedded and glass bedded the barreled action. I'm still trying to work the last little bit of creep out of the trigger pull. It's very light, obviously. The scope rings are medium height, and the bolt handle just clears the ocular bell. I think Glen Rock did the blueing. I want to say they are in Colorado. I wasn't sure how well the blued bolt would turn out, but I like the overall look.

Oh yes, the throat is a zero free-bore with 0.253" neck. I have high hopes for the accuracy potential. It's kind of a sleeper. It's got a stock factory look, but plenty of tweaks to make it shoot.

    Hello Slancey,
I have a 1967 Sako L461 in .222 Rem. calibre. I too have had a Ed LaPour 3 way safety fitted, also a Canjar trigger plus a front sight with a bead protector { Safari Type } with band. I had my factory stock customised as well. I will post photo's in the near future.

I had an L461 in .222 Rem. Mag. It was my first prairie dog rifle. I re-barreled it before selling it, which was a mistake. I shot the smallest group of my life with that one: 5 shots at 100 yards in 0.144"

The best and most lovely figured stock on a A1 .223 Rem. I have ever seen is Steve's { Stonecreek } rifle. I don't think there is a A1 in existence that would equal Stev's A1.
