Planning on polishing the bolt on my L61r that is a little rough with jewelers rouge. I want to avoid any headspace change so as long as I avoid any rouge on the front surface of the bolt lugs while working the action I should be ok? Does anyone have any experience with this process they can share results? Thanks

The rear surface of the bolt lugs is what you want to avoid changing. I doubt you would ever remove enough metal with jewelers' rouge to make any measurable difference.
    Good Luck,
    Rick
