Does anyone know of a source for steel thread protectors for the chamber end of AII/Forester barrels? I'd like to store my extra barrels with better thread protection.

McMaster-Carr has rubber caps of various sizes. Check them out. You may have to buy 5-10 at a time.

I wasn't thinking! I have several L57, L579, AII barrels that could also use thread protectors. I'm going to print some up. They won't be metal, but a pretty durable plastic. I don't currently have the proper resin and Tray for my Formlabs Form 2 printer (Grey Pro). Check it out on Formlabs web site and see what you think. If you're interested and willing to help with the materials cost, I can print some for you also. Send PM
P.S. They would require some cleanup on your end. The printer prints supports that have to be removed. I have found internal threads a PITA, but being plastic does enable you to use your male (steel) part to wear down the little nubs that are left. I have printed 1.25" x 18 for an AR hand-guard adapter and it worked well but the resin was not the best and it was external threads which are easier to remove the support from.

Cut a slit in some tennis balls for now. Better than nothing.

Don't forget muzzle protectors for your L61's you store barrel down to protect/preserve their original buttpads.
