I saw this beautiful AV hunter 270 it has what looks like a rosewood grip cap but its a sporter model is this unusual. I have a special liking towards this model and I am not total sure why the AV hunter catches my eye, its probably because it is truly a classic looking rifle that en-captures the sako styling from over the years and comes together really well. This one is particularily attractive with the straight stock no high comb.

That is not a Hunter, but a Classic. The Classic stock is straight whereas the Hunter stock has a pronounced Monte Carlo butt. The Classic also features two-point checkering on the grip with the straight backside. And yes, the wood is very nice on this example.

The grip cap is standard on the AV Classic.

Later model Classics also get a contrasting fore-end tip as well.
