• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I keep doing a double take, obviously I'm missing something. Guys initials engraved on the trigger guard, it's missing the front sight?? Did Varmints come with a front sight, all those pics and nothing for the muzzle end of the rifle. Butt pad, original? Last, $1400.00 and it doesn't crack the reserve! I know I'm missing something?

cmjr,
The ammunition is $1,000 and the rifle is $400 - $350 without the initials:bigsmile3:

I had to spin my head around and chew on that one awhile, also. I just can't bring myself to think about shooting someone elses reloads, in a rifle I owned, especially when I know how imperfect I can be at times.

Hey cmjr,
Took a look at it and it is a Garcia import Model 74 Heavy Barrel. the serial number 14XXXX puts it somewhere 75-76 time frame. Note the pin on the left side of the bolt shroud. QD sling studs. Also the purple hew of the bluing on the receiver. HB Varmints did not come with a front sight. Butt pad is also not original. If the person states this rifle is missing the front sight and is asking $1400, he/she has no idea what they have. Wow. Just went back an looked. there are 10 bidders with a high bid of $1400 and reserve has not been met??? Just an FYI if anyone on this forum is bidding thinking this something other than what it is. This IS NOT a pre-72 nor is it a pre-Garcia. The HB's were not chambered for the .223 until Garcia took over importation the end of 1970 or early 1971.
Regards, Will

Take it a step further, there are not 10 bidders, there are 10 bids. There are 2 bidders, with me in the number 2 slot at 600.00, then a third bidder(feedback of 2!!) taking it up to 1400.00. Can you spell shill? I'm thinking a good parts gun and someone's trying to hit a home run. I had never seen a varmint with sights but I've been around here long enough to know that I don't want to be eating my hat :)

Did anyone notice the Commemorative Finnwolf on Firearms International (Cabela's listing)? First reasonably priced Finnwolf I have seen for some time on any of the sale sites. If I didn't have three of them I would have gone after it real hard. By the time I saw it, it was probably already gone?-Misako

misako,
The only thing that bothered me was that it was listed in mostly "good" condition. Yet, at that price and the pictures I figured I could work with it. I'll be interested to see if it pops up again in a couple weeks at a higher price.
