a Sako Colt L579 in 308

Am i in the right place to find out what this gun is worth and whatever else.i been considering selling it.i bow hunt mostly.Being from Jersey i did not grow up hunting with rifle.Are these guns actually capable of 500 yards or more?that's not hunting in my book,DON,T get me wrong i would never tell anyone how to hunt.i am a computer dummy i hope i am doing this right.

Keepemsharp....You may be in the right place, but you need to do couple of things before the members can help....read the terms and conditions section, then go to edit profile, then go to the signature box toward the bottom of the page, click on it and enter your general location..DON'T USE THE LOCATION BOX!...even tho it makes perfect sence to....then if possible post some pictures of your rifle, give a good description, this will allow the members to better determine what you have and give estimation of its worth....this may sound like a lot to go thru, but it is required and necessary. -Bloo

bloorooster...This is all interesting stuff .i read the terms do i need to click something to prove that?i cant wait to get home and spin my rifle so it rest on the barrel.

Keepemsharp...the. 308 is a very capable round, a good effective range would be more in the 300-350 yds, not to say that there are not expert shooters out there that can be effective at double that range. I'm no turret twister, prefering to use hold over at ranges beyond 300, depending on what caliber I'm shooting and what I'm shooting at....I used to love bowhunting also, bad shoulder won't allow proper draw and form thus I am forced to use a x-bow, but it works...real well!-Bloo

bloorooster...i do recall the the prior owner telling me the same distances.it was his long range gun in upstate NY.i bought this piece for $250 or so back in 97 or so.i shot a deer at bow range with it,it worked real well.i kinda have to use a bow a lot as most of my grounds are farms with pony or cows.g night

Keepemsharp, I just realized what you meant by spinning that rifle, I learned the same thing here in the first week of membership, all my guns are muzzle down in the safe, It actually works better with space and the in's and outs!-Peace - Bloo
