• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Lever Action A new Wolf in Town?

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Yeah, that one has the rather scarce non-Monte Carlo buttstock. I've seen at least three versions of the Finnwolf stock -- the one illustrated, Monte Carlo with RH cheekpiece, and Monte Carlo with LH cheekpiece. Add the variations of with/without sights and coffin or flat bottom magazine, along with two calibers, then you have quite a few different Finnwolfs if you are a collector intent on getting all of them. Oh yes, and two versus three point fore end checkering, can't forget that one.

What's all of that discoloration near the rear scope base? Is that crude rust repair?
I noticed that as well..almost looks like it’s just not been wiped down or cleaned well after the previous scope was removed. This one is still quite clean in comparison to most from red rock. I see one newer looking ding on the stock that I will bet happened during import transfer.

The stock is still different to me , almost resembles the modern euro-style angled cheek piece like the 85 Bavarian rifles.
The contours between the lever and pistol grip are off too. Do the earlier Bofors Finnwolf look the same? The ones I had seemed to have the same radius or curve between the lever and grip area?

As best I can recall, mine had a Monte Carlo shape with no cheekpiece, making it ambidextrous. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo of it - that was a long time ago.

For those interested, the earliest I found left hand Finnwolfs in my FI catalog collection is this October/November 1969 availability sheet Sako sent to dealers probably because they were trying to get rid of inventory due to the change making Garcia the importer. I'm not saying LH Finnwolfs were not made prior to 1969. Sako may have produced some LH wolfs prior to 69, but none of my catalogs or pricelists from 1961 through 1968 mention a LH Finnwolf.
