The only markings are where the shells are fed in and it says "Sako .22lr" and that's all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    M78/P72 magazine.

Worth in excess of $100. I'll buy it if you're selling it.

Sorry Ben it's on gunbroker and I'd rather not do international shipping.

Hello, so does this magazine fit the P72 and the M78 .22lr? I have one on gunbroker right now and a person is asking. Unfortunately I do not have a P72 to compare it to. I guess I will have to buy one... :happy2: Thanks for your input.

    Hello emmerth.

We've talked about this one a bunch of times. And I can only tell you of my experiences, with .22lr Sakos that I own. I'm lucky enough to have one of the early P72s w/ the high gloss stock, very early serial number. I also have a M78 with the standard serial number in the 700k range.

My magazines are NOT interchangeable. I posted pics of the clips a while back, so those interested may want to search the pic archives/threads. The P72 clips are nicer than the M78s, I have two P72 clips and about half dozen or so M78 clips. The M78 clips won't fit into my P72, they are too big, and as I recall the P72 clips won't latch correctly in the M78, or at the very least it was not fitting correctly. I have done this testing, but I can't say that this will be the case for every P72/M78 magazine. Perhaps my early P72 is a Sako anomaly ??? who knows, but I think it is safe that one needs to be careful with trying to find the right magazine for their Sako rimfire.

Has anyone done this testing ? I'm curious to hear the stories of others.
