• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

First post on here I am from Australia and recently stumbled onto this sight. It has been a great read and the photo`s are enough to make a bloke drool.
I have just bought an A1 Varmint stock can anyone give me advice on whether I can fit it up to my L461 action.
Once this one is finished I will be working on getting an L579 220 swift that is buried in the back of a gunsafe.

Yes, an A-1 stock should be a drop-in fit for an L461. That is, as close to "drop-in" as any one stock and barreled action can be -- there are sometimes tiny variations which may require minor fitting. But the L461 and A-1 have identical action dimensions.

And WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

L461- I hesitate to tell you that it definitely will. It will depend largely on who produced the stock (Factory or Custom) and also if it may be a factory second take off stock or a "reject". It will be close, if not a drop in fit. If the stock is too loose I would say it is a "reject". Your barrel channel will be loose in any event unless you have the same barrel profile. The bigger brother --L579--- is no slam dunk either. Let us know if you get lucky with it- Mike

Thanks for the replies fella`s .I should have mentioned the stock is a factory item. And the rifle is a 17 rem with a shot out barrel. So the stock will be used with a replacement varmint weight barrel. And the sporter stock stored for future use.
