• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Prowling around in a local gun shop the other day and saw a Sako 995. Don't see a reference to this model in the various action sections of this forum. It was a fiberglass stock gun in 7mm mag if i remember correctly. Can someone educate me on this model.

thanks

The Model 995 (also called the TRG-s) is the sporter version of the TRG Sniper rifle. The action is a three-lug model with a 60-degree (or so) bolt lift. They came with a black synthetic stock and use a detachable 4-round magazine (magnum calibers). The bolt works exceptionally smoothly. Regular Sako rings fit them just like any other model.

I have three of them (7mm STW, .338 Win, .375 H&H) and all of them are very accurate. The .338 and .375 are particularly accurate for larger bore magnums, with 100 yard groups running consistently less than an inch. I took the .338 to Africa on a plains game hunt as my primary rifle, where it performed flawlessly.

Yes I have one in my collection of Sako's in .270 Winchester.

Rather heavy but its my hunting rifle pictured here with my young GSP dog and fallow deer.

And yes it shoots rather well.
