• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Does anyone have a favorite 7 mag load they like to deer hunt with. I have always used 140 grain Nosler partition. I push it with 64 grains of IMR 4350 with a magnum primer. Partitions are getting a bit expensive. I have been hearing a lot about Bergers. Has anyone taken a large animal with one?

I like the Sierra 160 grain Spitzer with a CCI standard primer, not magnum, and either H4895 or IMR 4895. My old load is obsolete because of a change in powder manufacturers but you can work up a load for yourself. I've killed mt goats, caribou, whitetails, Sitka blacktails and mule deer. My friend used the same bullet and load to kill a few moose.

I use 61 grains of IMR 4350, Fed 215 mag primers, and 150 gr. Nosler CTBT (Combined Technology Ballistic Tip) bullets. Sub 1 inch at 100 yards. Noslers Ballitic tips are unbeatable for deer. I used a partition once and will never do it again on a deer because it just pin holed through. These bullets are made for thick skin - big boned animals.
Its just a plane ol waste of money for deer. Now had my shot not went between the ribs it might have been different but the BT's will expand even if they dont hit bone. While I was dragging that deer down a mountain trail it came back to life and just looked at me. I had to finish it off with a hand gun. That is something I hope never happens to me again.
