• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Greetings all !
Just another greenhorn, looking for some Sako wisdom.... I'd appreciate any good feedback I can get. I was in one of our local shops, and saw a Finnbear L61R in 7mm Rem Mag. The serial number is 15237xx which according to Sako's old manufacture date chart indicates it is in a series of "special numbering" starting in May 1977, and does not indicate when the manufacture of these rifles stopped. Anyway, I guess I'm wondering what if anything is significant about that stretch of numbers ---( other than that 901 were made -- It goes from 1523000 to 1523901 ).

The particular rifle was in good to very good shape, save a scuff on the buttstock about 1-1/2" long. The metal condition is excellent; and there is the Stoeger import stamp on the barrel. They're asking $1000 for it, which to me seems a bit high. And I didn't even look to see if it's 2 or 3 locking lugs. The trigger is excellent, and the recoil pad looked a bit worn and out of shape. The bore was very good too, I couldn't see anything which would make me question it.
So, if anyone can enlighten me as to a fair price for this rifle, or any other details, come to Michigan and I'll buy you a beer.

thanks
Moz

The price does seem about 30% ( for my area ) high by your description. I believe this was the last year of the L61R designation, then switched to AIII. Sako numbering is iffy
