• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I was advised that the 300RUM comes on the 75 action now Sako does not list it on their pdf (https://www.sako.fi/pdf/specs/75SyntheticStainless.pdf) but I guess they used the Vmag action since that would be the suitable system.
I did see the 75/85(? seller posted 2 ids) 4 sale on GB..the 2010 pdf also does not mention a 300RUM
(https://www.sako.fi/pdf/datatables/SakoRiflesDatatable.pdf)
Not sure I want to pursue the action for this barrel. 300RUM (www.chuckhawks.com/300super_mags.htm)
It is a big game long range shooter.
Anyone have one
OH barrel is not Bofors of course

quag,
I don't have one nor have I ever been tempted to get one. From what I have heard, the 300 RUM is just a hair behind the .300 Win Mag.ballistics-wise. Did you call Beretta and ask about the 300 RUM in the 75/85? When you first brought this up I checked Gun Broker, too.
I'm not sure, but it seems like one of those calibers that ammo would not be readily available off the shelf. I don't do any reloading anymore. I only have one rifle that I use for "precision" shooting and luckily the Lapua rounds I use carry a high BC and I don't have to reload to get what I need.
I've always found Chuck Hawks to be a good and impartial writer who doesn't cater to the gun industry to get a certain company's hype up.
Good luck,
S-A

Yes the 300 RUM & the 7mm RUM came in the 75 V action. RUM models had floor plates & not detachable magazines. They were only around for one or two model years of the 75's existance. Quite rare. Never had one myself, I did have a 75 7mm STW though. One of the most accurate factory Sako's I ever owned. Still kicking myself for selling it.

Off topic a friend of mine has a 300 RUM built on a AV action. Very nice.

G'day

I am lucky enough to own a 75 in 300 RUM . I believe there were only 4 or 5 came into Australia. Mine is in Stainless Hunter and has a Synthetic stock as a spare. It is superbly accurate right out as far as I am able to shoot these days.
It well and truely shows a clean pair of heels to the 300 Win Mag (listed at 27%) and yes very flat shooting.
I like it so much I have just bought a new 85 Sako 338 WM and had it rechambered in 338 RUM dont know what I'll use it for but maybe it will make a good Sambar rifle.
Cheers
Paul.
