• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Very excited about my "new" addition.

I know there has been some conversation about this caliber and production dates/serial numbers, so I wanted to make sure I got this one up, for the record.

In reading through some previous threads, it seems that some guns with serial numbers in the 43xxx's to 45xxx's may have been some sort of a special run of 300 H&H Magnums with barrels marked 300 H&H Mag, since 300 Win Mag was then in production. The serial number on this rifle is earlier.

Looking forward to any thoughts and comments.

*Last pic show it side by side with my 375 H&H Magnum, a Garcia import with a 20 inch barrel and no front sight. Feels good to have these together.

Serial number 18xxx
L61R Deluxe
Barrel reads Cal. 300 H&H Mag
Bofors Steel barrel

Very nice. And a perfect pair for Africa. The caliber stamping is interesting - I didn't know any Sakos were stamped 300 H&H.

Yes, any .300 H&H which Sako produced post-1965 would almost certainly have been stamped with the H&H designation since Sako appears to have begun also shipping the .300 Winchester Magnum in very early 1966. The number of .300 H&H Sakos produced declined rapidly after 1966, but there were still quite a few of them being produced well into the 1970's, although those imported to the U.S. were very limited in number.

By the way, super find, Charles! If you bought it at a recent auction I think I might have been one of your competitors.

Exactly....I've got one with the 45k serial number. ANY old Sako in .300H&H is a prize. Congrats, and thanks for the pics !
