• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

What would YOU do?
DEFINITELY....I want a Sako in 300 Holland & Holland. :angel2:
OPTION 2......Buy a friend's (unmodified) Sako AV in 375HH complete with Leupold scope and dies for €2000, sell off the scope and dies (for whatever they may sell!) and send it over to the UK to have it re-barreled to 300HH with a semi-weight 22" barrel, accurised, etc (which will set me off another €600at least!) But I will end up with a custom gun

Rehabilitate the .300 Deluxe! Deluxes are exceedingly rare in .300 H&H, so the time and money you spend will be worthwhile. You may have to invest in a pricey and professional reblue when you get the front claw mount base removed, and will also have some filling work to do in the stock inletting where the removal takes place. But the act will be like cutting a nasty tumor from your body and the gun will be much happier after it is done. The holes in the rear dovetail will cover if you use a mount base like a Redfield or Optilock.

BTW: By all means leave the barrel at 24.4 inches. Not only is this original, but the extra couple of inches over the 22-incher you propose in option 2 will pay you substantial velocity dividends (as well softer muzzle blast moved further from your ears.)

Bandit,

A very perplexing dilema. Thinking outside the box, I personally would sell some of the wife's jewelry and buy both.

Somewhat in jest,

Rowdy

I agree with Stonecreek. The Deluxe could be considered 'custom' in your mind when you're done with it. You'll have a lot of time in it worth calling it 'custom'.
