Thinking of buying.Any idea when made?

I have several older Riihimakis and looking at the trigger guards and the cheekpiece, I would calculate by no other source than my own, that your rifle was made in the mid 1950's. The cheekpieces in the second picture are from a later Riihimaki and a very early wing safety model. You can see the earlier gun has a much different indentation on the forward part of the cheekpiece. The bottom gun in the second picture is the 218 Bee and it was made in 1948 or so.

The third picture shows the 2 different types of trigger guard, the earlier model is the stamped piece and the later is the machined trigger guard. Good luck with your purchase...

That is an exceptionally nice piece of wood for an L46, and the condition looks excellent. I like the striping in the butt. It's missing the sight hood ($30 for a repro; originals all but unobtainable). The included scope rings are Leupold; I personally wouldn't use them but some Sako shooters like them. If you want real Sako rings in the same condition as the rifle, figure $80+ for medium, somewhat more for the high rings. If you want open sights, the Sako dovetail rear sights can be had for $60-80. As far as value goes, I'd say anything under a grand is a good deal. If the wood and condition are as nice as it seems from the photo, maybe even 1100-1200. I probably wouldn't pay that myself, but then I already have one (although that one looks nicer than mine).

If it were mine (and its condition as good as it appears) I wouldn't ask less than $1,500. Whether a given individual is interested at that price is quite another question.

Plus 1 on what stone said!! Looking at the current market, you will be hard pressed to buy a L46 or L461 Mannlincher carbine or rifle for less than $1500. The rifle in question, being the longer barreled rifle version with exceptional wood for a L46, won't last long at that price. If it is still available & I knew who to contact it would be mine.

That asking price is not too far off, IMHO. A tad bit high, but I'd pay $1250 no problem if I were looking for another to add to the collection. Good luck!
