• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Carbine 1971 L61r Manlicher Carbine????

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Deergoose: Looking at the list you posted of .375 Mannlichers, the only one which has a low enough serial number to be listed in the factory records is 42329. The inspection date of 29 April 1969 and caliber of .375 agree on both your list and the factory records.

Curiously, it is listed in the factory inspection records with a "D", indicating a Deluxe, not a Mannlicher. It is also listed in the shipping records as a Deluxe which was shipped to the distributor in England.

It is no surprise that conflicting information regarding Sako production exists. I wonder how this came about? It just points out that it is impossible to say anything with absolute certainty about Sakos! One remote (and entertaining) possibility is that 42329 was both a Mannlicher and a Deluxe. Wouldn't that be the cat's whiskers!

Correct. The file doesn't format/view very well....you have to go into Acrobat and do a 2-page view, where you can see the columns line up better. There are 12 rifles in .375 listed, and 9 of those are Mannlicher rifles. #42329 is one that doesn't have the Mannlicher comment with it.

sorry for the confusion.
