• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

    Sako S491 Single Shot

I am talking about modifying the bottom metal from a L461 or L597 and just using the trigger guard portion of it. Thanks for the info on the II action. I suspected it was something like that, but you never know with these things.

    Sako S491 Single Shot

Hi all. A very good friend of mine has given me a S491 single shot action and I'm looking to build something special out of it. My question is regarding the single shot trigger guards. Does anyone have a picture of a genuine one? Did they run a rear screw and 2 action bolts in escutcheons? Does...

    Sako L461 Varmint

Had a bit of a play around in the shed today. The brass is fireformed now and it has created a bit more room in the case. 18.5gr is still up in the neck. These 221 Lapua fireball cases must be pretty thick!

    Sako L461 Varmint

Yeah sure am. Long drop tube, even tried vibrating the the cases and tapping them to see if it made a difference. Going to mess around with some more loads this afternoon and see what I can come up with.

    Sako L461 Varmint

I can't load it up any more than it is. There isn't enough powder space in the Lap cases to get that high up. Much more than 17gr starts compressing and I'd prefer not to go down that path.

    Sako L461 Varmint

I have yet to chrony the load, but am hoping for something in the 3700fps range. With any luck I'll be able to have a night out with the spotlight soon to test it out past 200 yards on some foxes. The Meopta scope is a great thing, has a standard duplex reticle in it. I was originally going to...

    Sako L461 Varmint

After a long wait I finally got my rifle back from the gunsmith. Originally a 222 Remington, the barrel left a lot to be desired. I had a 26" pacnor fitted chambered in 20 vartarg. The action was re-blued and pillar bedded. I stripped the original lacquer finish off as it was badly dilapidated...

    Sako L461 Varmint Stock

Hi all. Don't know how many guys are on here from OZ, but looking for an L461 varmint stock for a 222 I'm trying to bring back. Mine is split forward of the trigger guard and the gunsmith is not sure how it will turn out if we try and repair it.

    L461 Varmint 221 Fireball

Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference, if any, between L461 Varmint rifles chambered in 222 Remington to 221 Fireball. Were there any magazine modifications, block offs, action differences etc? I have saved a fairly rough L461 that needs a new barrel and thought a little...

    85 Varmint 6mm BR

We have figured this out by removing the internals from the 85 mag and replaced them with modified internals from a 75 PPC mag.

    85 Varmint 6mm BR

Shooting foxes out to 350 metres. Gonna load up with 65gr V-Max pills.

    85 Varmint 6mm BR

I have had a discussion with my gunsmith and we think that putting a block in the current mag and making adjustments to the mag lips should give a satisfactory result. Maybe modifying the internals out of a 75 PPC mag and putting them in the 85 outer also. Will let you know how we get on.

    L461 Varmint

Thanks stonecreek. Very helpful and informative. I am sourcing brass and dies at the moment for it. Gonna dummy up some rounds with bullets I want to use and go from there. I'm only planing to shoot 50-55gr projectiles out of it for kangaroos and foxes, so I should be able to come up with a load...

    85 Varmint 6mm BR

Hi guys. I have a Sako 85 varmint laminated stainless in 243 I am going to have rechambered to 6mm BR. My question is in relation to the magazine and getting the BR rounds to feed reliably. I have seen 75s converted to BR using the PPC mag and that is quite successful. I had the thought to...

    L461 Varmint

Was wondering if anyone can tell me if it's possible to rebarrel a L461 Varmint from 222 remington to 222 remington magnum? I'm concerned there won't be enough room in the magazine to seat projectiles out. Any info would be appreciated.
